First things to know
about jw's

My name is Andre. Andre de Sousa Oliveira. I believe in Almighty God, and I am seeking to obey Almighty God in all aspects of my life.

For a certain time, I became a member of the group "Jehovah's Witnesses", but I am no longer part of that group.
Some points that I believe Almighty God helped me understand about this group (Jehovah's Witnesses), I will share here.
I need to say that I am not looking to start a new form of worship - or a cult - and I do not accept worship or a cult centered around me or what I was able to present here, through the help, miracles, and salvation from Almighty God.
If you are going to mention or present the topics from this site, mention this first block of text (starting with: 'My name is Andre'... until this attribution note), and include the website address (https://firstthingstoknowaboutjws.com).

Note: The layout of this website aims to follow the page layout and the “aesthetic” (if it can be called that) — or visual style — of popular newspapers from Rio de Janeiro and the Baixada Fluminense (Brazil) in the 1970s, most notably the "Última Hora" journal (many times, a pure blood-and-guts vehicle of journalism).

Due to site maintenance, the articles in gray color will temporarily not redirect to the full content.
As they are reactivated, they will return to blue.

Were there double standards in the early congregation of first-century disciples?

What could be different between Ananias and Sapphira, Alexander the coppersmith, and individual scattered members of the primitive congregation of disciples in the first century?

On May 2, 2025, some comments were added to this article about the 1,900-year-old papyrus P. Cotton — including details about taxation by the roman empire, tax evasion, and a possible connection with the biblical account of Philemon and Onesimus, and perhaps even with the account of Ananias and Sapphira in the Greek Scriptures — see the 3 to 4-minute reading at the following link: Were there double standards in the early congregation of first-century disciples? - at the section "The translation and publication of the 1,900-year-old papyrus P. Cotton"

I watched this video and started thinking — the ex-JW community on YouTube has a lot of videos saying that JW Broadcasting and the programs from district conventions, international conventions, and assemblies — even the turnover of the articles in the publications — keep systematically repeating just a few selected Bible verses, always the same ones.

Can you imagine which verses these people found being constantly repeated in the publications, JW Broadcasting, JW district conventions, international conventions, and assembly programs?

And what about the early disciples of the first-century congregation * new article ?

Today, april 30, 2025, a video of approximately 1 minute in length was added to this article for the purpose of demonstrating one of the activities of a roman jailer in the first century:
stretching using the eculeus (equuleus).
A similar 'procedure' (if it can be called that) is presented — the brazilian "pau de arara" — which can provide a very close idea of what the activities of a roman jailer in the first century were like.
